“To do what nobody else will do,
in a way that nobody else can do,
in spite of all we go through;
that is to be a nurse.”
– Rawsi Williams
Howdy! Welcome to your gateway to Texas Association of Perianesthesia Nurses (TAPAN) West Texas-Panhandle region. It was established in 2010 as a result of TAPAN’s re-alignment and combining 3 West Texas districts formerly known as San Angelo-Abilene (district 9), Lubbock (district 11), and Amarillo (district 4). A decision made by the TAPAN excutive board in 2018 brought the total number of regions to 4 for the state of Texas. West Texas-Panhandle region serves 97 counties with over 81 hospitals, clinics, and surgical centers.
The West Texas and Panhandle Region supports TAPAN’s mission in advancing perianesthesia nursing practice through research, education, and standards. We strive to host educational offerings every year. Members can accumulate merit points to use towards educational funding through participation in various activities of the organization including but not limited to volunteer services, serving in committee/s at regional, state, or national level, and attendance to meetings and conferences.
Our regional newsletter, What’s TAPANing, is published quarterly. Our region is proud for garnering the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016 and 2022 Mocek Award for Outstanding Newsletter.
Again, welcome to our website. Please send your comments, opinions, or suggestions to admin@tapan-westtexas-panhandle.com. You can also friend the group on face book with the westpan region group to keep up with news and happenings in the region. We need and value comments and suggestions so we can serve you better.
